New Year's Delay

Welp, I'm right on board with three quarters of Americans who vow to do something better or more thoroughly in the new year. Though I didn't make that my resolution - in fact I don't make resolutions - I still feel somewhat like I've let myself down. Why is that? Who am I to say that I didn't do what I wanted myself to do? Is that even a thing? Is it possible? Well, clearly it is, as I have.

Anywho, enough of that blither blather; on to more important things. I have not been to the gym since daylight savings took away the hour of light that I utilized as my workout hour. Perhaps that was self-sabotage - picking a time of day to work out that I knew wouldn't exist in a matter of weeks. Hmm, interesting. Well that was back in October and here we are in No-cem-uary...eek, that's awful. Alright here's the issue. I love to run. Your heart get pumping, you sweat, and you really feel like you are taking extreme action againt the battle of the bulge. Here's my bone to pick: it's boring. Unless I find that song that's so awesome it syncs up to my mood, my speed, and my terrain, I feel like I'm doing something merely perfunctorily because some teacher once told me when I was in P.E. that running was good. Have you ever played racquetball? Now there's a workout. There's running involved, sure, but there's also jumping, torquing, diving, leaping, slamming...and injury. I love it. However, if you're thinking that you could just walk up to a handball wall and try to adapt your method of play, you are sorely wrong my friend. You will essentially feel like a ball runner at Wimbledon only without the benefit of watching world class sport. So there - my advice to you, random person who has stumbled upon this site and for some reason continues to read, is to try racquetball. Just mind your nose as you're running straight at a concrete wall.

Not quite the direction I thought this post was going to take, but hey, I don't control what my brain thinks. Oh, wait...
