And I, e, I, will al-ways lo-ove yooooouuuuu!

The best thing about driving a car from 1994? The tape deck. I am afforded glitch-free, static-free music via a tape adapter plugged into my iPhone. The second best thing? The engine is louder than a 747. These two outdated and often looked down upon features result in some of the happiest moments of my day - singing along to my music at the absolute top of my lungs. Let me be completely clear here: I absolutely can not carry a tune; singing just makes me happy. Sometimes I trick myself into thinking I'm getting good, and, in a bold move, will turn down the music but maintain my volume. What results is usually a deep-seeded (but clearly soon-forgotten) feeling of self-loathing; 'how' I think to myself, 'can someone be so utterly and completely bad at something, but love it so much?' And with that, back up goes the volume.

The singing of a song is not simply that - facial contortions and car-safe dance moves accompany these solo performances. Freeway driving lends itself particularly well as speeds are constant, the direction is generally straight and the cars surrounding mine are constantly changing. Banging on the wheel like it's a full drum kit, hunching over trying to squeeze the last bit of air from my lungs to hold the note, or scrunching my face thinking it will give me a bit more range is OK because no one can see me as I fly past them. City streets however, are where it gets tricky. Fortunately, technology (and the law) has created a sort of mask: the hands-free headset. Simply putting those little white ear buds in reduces my "crazy factor" ten-fold. "Oh, she must be on the phone, she's not talking to herself." Or "wow, that must be an intense call; she's really smacking that steering wheel. I'd hate to be on the other end of that call". Lately however, I've really stopped caring about this red-light judgment from strangers. I'm having a good time. I'm super happy. I'm not worrying about my to-do list or my work meeting. No road rage from me, traffic just means I get to sing longer! When my iPhone runs out of battery however, that's when things get hairy.

Off To A Roaring Start

Clearly the frequent positing on this site establishes that I take my goals seriously. Well, to be fair I've thought about this blog often, I just haven't managed to make it back to post my thoughts. Sometimes however, I zone out of the task at hand and find myself mentally creating a new entry on my mind-computer; please let me know if you've received any of these posts as we should probably talk.

Alright, well here's the deal for this blog, I've decided to take it in a slightly different direction than I originally intended: basically, most things in life interest me. Travel is intriguing and can set the imagination ablaze; food is simply beyond great; the entertainment industry, from TV to movies to theater to music, holds the power to inspire and invigorate millions; and people - well people are the absolute cherry on top of it all. With 6 billion ways to "best" do things, even the most seemingly boring person is likely to have at least one interesting story to tell.

So there we go, this blog is going to be a smorgasbord of the thoughts that pop into my head; some humorous, some educational, some just a fleeting thought that I felt like sharing. Go.

In The Beginning (and by Beginning I Mean Year 24)

The journey of a thousand miles blah blah blah...
I hate those over-used quotations so much; but more than that I hate that most of the time they are spot-on for describing the emotion you want to convey. That being said, let's try out a new one: A life in progress is a life worth living. Mreh. Time will tell if that one catches on.

Anywho, it's day 8,764 of my life and I am now deciding that it is a good time to keep a track of it. I've not been a diary-keeper, nor a journal-er so this is my first attempt at tracking my life with the written word. Most do it because they just like to write and since they know a lot about themselves it works as a go-to topic, others argue it's cathartic and necessary to mental health, and some simply like talking about themselves to whomever will listen. I suppose I would categorize myself as a small chunk of the first two. I actually don't care too much for people's attention but as we are moving closer and closer to a paperless world (hooray for the rain forests) I find that online diaries are where it's at and if that means that the general public gets to read my diary, so be it then...plus, I can type like a zillion times faster than I can write.

So there you have it, that's why I'm here on blogger - to empty my brain of thoughts and realizations, questions and wonderments, worries and hopes, likes and dislikes. If you care, great; if not, fine. Let the games begin. This is my non-magical pensieve.
